1. What is the OBRIS Security User?
The Security User is a separate Android user intended for sensitive applications, accounts and data. It is designed to keep higher sensitivity work outside the everyday Owner environment.
2. How is the YubiKey used by OBRIS SecureOS?
Through the supported Obris workflow, the enrolled YubiKey is required to activate the Security User. This is different from using a security key only to sign in to a website or individual application: the physical key is integrated into the protected user workflow itself.
3. Can the Security User be activated without the enrolled YubiKey?
The supported Obris workflow is designed to require the enrolled YubiKey before the protected Security User is activated. Obris does not describe this as protection against every unknown software vulnerability, hardware attack or forensic technique.
4. What communication restrictions apply inside the Security User?
Cellular SMS and outgoing cellular calls are restricted by Obris policy in the Security User. The environment is intended to use approved encrypted applications for sensitive messaging and calling instead of ordinary cellular SMS or outgoing voice calls.
5. What are the OBRIS duress controls?
OBRIS includes a duress workflow intended to remove the protected Security User while allowing the ordinary Owner environment to remain usable. Duress features reduce exposure but are not represented as a guarantee against every physical or forensic attack.
6. What happens if my SecureOS subscription expires?
OBRIS subscriptions are intended to fund maintained SecureOS releases, Obris services, support and VPN access when included. The commercial model is not intended to remotely brick, wipe or disable the local security features of an already activated device solely because the subscription has ended. Production entitlement behaviour will be documented before general availability.
7. What if I lose my enrolled YubiKey?
Treat the enrolled YubiKey as security critical hardware. Obris will document the supported replacement and recovery procedure before general availability rather than claiming an undocumented bypass or recovery path.
OBRIS CHAT
8. What is OBRIS Chat?
OBRIS Chat is the Obris end to end encrypted messaging and voice calling app. It is designed to operate through the Obris VPN path.
9. Does OBRIS Chat include voice calling?
Yes. The current design includes one to one encrypted voice calling using encrypted WebRTC media, with TURN relay only for the intended media path.
10. Does OBRIS Chat work without Obris VPN?
The service is designed to require an active Obris VPN tunnel. If the required tunnel is unavailable, the communications service should stop rather than intentionally fall back to a direct internet connection.
11. Does the VPN replace end to end encryption?
No. These are separate protections. End to end encryption protects message and voice content. Obris VPN protects the network path between the device and Obris network services.
12. Are Obris voice calls direct peer to peer?
No. The current voice design uses TURN relay only and does not use direct peer to peer media candidates. The relay handles encrypted media packets and is not intended to receive plaintext audio.
13. How is OBRIS Chat provided?
OBRIS Chat is free. There is no separate messaging or voice subscription. It requires an active Obris VPN connection and can be used with any active Obris VPN subscription, including standalone VPN plans or VPN included with SecureOS + VPN. It provides end to end encrypted messaging and encrypted voice calling through the Obris VPN path.

15. What is WireGuard and why does it matter?

10 locations across 4 continents [7]:
All locations run WireGuard with AES-256 encryption and unlimited bandwidth.
22. Do you send push notifications?
Obris VPN may send push notifications to inform you when a server location goes down or comes back online [6]. This is optional you do not have to accept push notifications to use the service.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) is used solely to deliver these notifications
- FCM is NOT used for analytics, tracking, or profiling [4]
23. Is Obris VPN available for iOS?
Not yet iOS is in active development. All billing will be handled through the Apple App Store, and your existing subscription will work on both platforms at no additional cost when it launches [7].

OBRIS VAULT
25. What is OBRIS Vault?
OBRIS Vault is encrypted storage and sharing for documents, photographs and other files. File content is designed to be encrypted on the authorised device before upload and decrypted locally after download.
26. Can Obris read my Vault files?
The normal architecture is designed so the managed server stores ciphertext, encrypted manifests and encrypted key envelopes without requiring plaintext file contents or plaintext file encryption keys. The service can still hold operational metadata such as account relationships, object sizes, timestamps, quota and audit events.
27. Does Managed Vault require Obris VPN?
Yes. The managed Vault API is intentionally designed around the Obris VPN network path rather than unrestricted public Internet access.
28. What Vault storage plans are defined?
The supplied Vault catalogue defines a free 5 GB Starter entitlement plus 25 GB and 100 GB Google Play subscription products. The supplied documentation does not state the retail prices for the paid managed products.
29. What does Private Vault cost?
The current configured catalogue lists OBRIS Private Vault at A$499/year including 10 users, with additional users at A$49/user/year and a maximum of one node.
30. What does Enterprise Vault cost?
The current configured catalogue lists OBRIS Enterprise Vault at A$1,499/year including 25 users, with additional users at A$39/user/year and a maximum of two nodes.
